WEEK 3: April 15th - April 19th

Third Week

The peaceful times are over. Moloch von Zinzer was murdered, and Nine was sentenced as his murderer. Everyone in Cartesio knows that.

Although life goes on, it seems the town of Cartesio isn't going to forget the tourists' transgressions. Not only they commited larceny in the cinema, they also murdered and executed in their town! It's no surprise their hospitality towards the visitors has cooled down considerably.

Not only they're maintaining a tense cordiality with them, they also have started talking behind the visitors' backs. All kinds of rumors are starting to sprout, yet nobody seems to be willing to say it to the tourists' faces. Talking directly to most passerby makes them distrustful, and nobody seems to want to be in close quarters alone with them.

It's only matter of time before the relationship between tourists and Cartesio starts degrading even further.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

Investigation!

[quickpersuader]

[Kino attends the execution. The quick death does not much faze the traveler, but then, not much has, so that's likely not a surprise. Afterwards, it's back to business as usual.]

[Graveyard - Investigation, open to PCs]

[Kino spends some time here, looking at the different graves intently, the names inscribed upon them. There's history in graves, and Kino is nothing if not curious.]

[Ice Cream Parlor]

[Just as basically everyone else, Kino's here to partake in some ice cream! Kino seems pretty pleased. Some may notice that Kino is sampling different flavors with each scoop.

This is, without a doubt, the very best addition to this town.]

[Clothing Store]

[Kino eventually can be found here, browsing through the clothes, particularly mens' button down shirts. Or, rather - boy's, given Kino's size. Come critique this incredibly boring sense of fashion? Or help in the search? Either is an acceptable use of time.]

Investigation

[Remember what Mrs. Mitchell said about ancestors having founded the town? Looks like she was right.

There are several people with the last names of some people Kino and others may have heard about around town. All of them have epitaphs referencing the foundation of the town]

[Very interesting! What do those epitaphs say?]

[Jughead, similarly, is just racking up an entire collection of flavors here. He knows what he's about, and frozen sugary placebos are one of them. He casually leans up against...whatever there is to lean against.]

And we all screamed for ice cream.

[He probably could've gone for darker humor there, but this is as much as he can feel up to.]

I think I can do without screaming.

[This sugary goodness is super good, though.]

At least the food in this country is good. What flavors did you get?

About half of them.

[He takes a bite from the bounty of flavors. Salted Caramel. Nice.]

Can't really go wrong when it comes to ice cream.

[quickpersuader]

There's probably countries with... unique flavors. [Though Kino tends to be happy with most foods.]

I haven't seen a lot of these flavors before, though. Do they have many of these where you're from?

[Chomp. Mint chocolate chip!]

[burgerprince]

You mean in a regional scale or broader?

[quickpersuader]

[The spoon remains at Kino's lips for a moment as the traveler hums thoughtfully.]

Whichever ones you're familiar with, then.

[burgerprince]

We've got most of these.

[Some of the more experimental flavors are just ones he wouldn't expect at all, rather than completely foreign. Watermelon? Really?]

Less excitement, more comfortable familiarity.

[quickpersuader]

Ice cream is a treat when you travel all the time.

[Not everywhere has it, for one, not to mention the cost.]

Do you mind telling me more about where you come from?

[burgerprince]

Small town America. A little place called Riverdale, once known for its maple syrup, high school football team, and never letting the fifties die.

[A pause.]

Now it's known for corruption and murder.

[quickpersuader]

["America" again. Kino doesn't catch like, half of that, but:]

How did that happen?

[burgerprince]

Someone killed the captain of the football team, Jason Blossom. Everything fell apart from there.

Clothing Store

[silvertongueheir]

[Franciscus notices her searching, wandering over from his own suit hunt.] Are there any colors you're looking for?

[quickpersuader]

Just white would be good enough. It doesn't need to be anything flashy.

[Though given this is Kino, the fact that the traveler prefers understated fashion is perhaps not a surprise.]

[silvertongueheir]

[He nods, sifting through the clothes some more alongside her until he finds a white shirt with black buttons. He holds it up so she can see it.]

I think the contrast looks rather attractive, and at the same time not overly flashy, as you would prefer.

[quickpersuader]

It doesn't need to be attractive. [Voice dry. But Kino looks over and nods, reaching for it.]

That will do. Have you seen any others like it?

[Kino has zero problem with getting a set of identical clothes.]

[silvertongueheir]

It's most likely to be in the same box. [He pulls out another one. This one has star-shaped buttons.]

...no. This is probably too flashy for you, and the shape makes them inconvenient to use for their proper purpose anyways.

[quickpersuader]

[A quick assessment.]

Do you... usually work with fashion?

[silvertongueheir]

It's not my actual job, but it is quite important for social events to know what works and what does not. Both in terms of appearance and practicality.

[quickpersuader]

What kinds of social events?

[Kino's already thinking wealthy based on attire and such, but. It's always better to ask.]

[silvertongueheir]

Parties, mostly those exclusive to the nobility. Some business meetings, as well.

[quickpersuader]

On behalf of your family?

[silvertongueheir]

Indeed. I am their only son, after all.
