Fourth Week

A second murder shook the town of Cartesio. Clarisse's ambush plan ended with Katsuki Bakugou's death. Now what?

Nothing to be done other than continuing their life and watch what happens. After two weeks, after the deaths they have seen, it's hard to think there's a way out. The only option is to wait for the right chance to turn the tables and see a weak point in the Sergeant's plans -- and hopefully not see any murders.

The townspeople's attitude towards the tourists soured even more. The destruction of the church was much worse than anything they had seen so far, and they ran out of patience. People who in the past were nice and wanted nothing more than to make the tourists happy now aren't afraid of saying to their faces what's what. Random pedestrians shout at the visitors, telling them to stop being criminals. Although there are a few who have more patience than the rest, general opinion is clear:

The tourists are nuisances, to say the least.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

[Motel - Morning]

[Kino's got some time to kill before they need to prepare for the talent show. So, the traveler can be found seated at one of the chairs in the lobby, slumped such to stare up at the ceiling. Upon noticing others around however, there's one of those faint smiles.]

Do you have a moment? I was just thinking... It might be nice to swap stories.

[Kino is getting bored.]

Hmm?

[ Well. It's not that she's not willing to talk about home, but...ah, it's fine. Kino's pretty nice, and she did say swap stories, so. ]

I suppose that would be fine. What sort of stories are you looking to hear?

[quickpersuader]

Stories of places and things I haven't seen, mostly, but I'll take anything.

[Kino might. Be getting a little desperate, even if the tone gives nothing much away.]

Hmmm...I can tell you of the land I grew up in, if you'd like.

[ She's...definitely got a lot of stories, but so many of them are subject to that goddamned curse. ]

Alright.

In the beginning there were 12 dragons who shaped the land. Some of them bonded with humans bestowed their power upon them. Because of that, any royalty from my home can use Dragon Veins--sort of a terraforming power that can manipulate the world around them, though only in specific places. Regretfully, I haven't found any Dragon Veins here...

Ah, anyway. The land I grew up in, Hoshido, was bonded with the Dawn Dragon. It's very evident in the way the land prospers...Hoshido is a very sunny, bountiful place. Up until very recently, the kingdom was in a long era of peace...it's a beautiful place to live.

Is that something you would have been able to do if there was a Dragon Vein here? Manipulate the world?

[Last night may have resulted in today's stunning newspaper exposé, but it also landed Millium with a tiny bit of information. And true to form, she can't keep that to herself.

Thankfully, there's someone else she knows that would take interest in it.]

Millium? ["Someone sounds excited" would normally go here, but that's usually how it goes with the girl.]

What is it?

Hey, so. The newspaper guy, he said somethin' kinda interesting last night.

When he was talkin' to Cian, he said something about court paperwork.

Didn't one of the songs on the haunted jukebox talk about papers?

[quickpersuader]

Oh... right.

[Kino has to pause a second to try to recall.]

Something like... "go get those papers?"

[A. A lot happened that night and Kino still isn't sure what they did in the end.]

You think those could be it?

[doublelammy]

Something like? Or "I guess I'll get the papers?" I'm not sure.

But yeah, I think so. He brought it up a couple times... seems like somethin' we should at least be havin' a look at, since it's about us, right?

Probably. Did you hear him say anything else about them?

Ah, that does sound pretty fun! Let's see... what sorts of stories are you thinking?

[quickpersuader]

I'm most interested in stories about places or things I haven't seen, but I'm happy to listen to just about anything.

[Wanderlust is not great when one is trapped in murdertown.]

Hmm... well, from our conversations before, it sounds like you've been to some pretty interesting places. I'm not sure if I'd be able to impress you in that area.

[quickpersuader]

It doesn't need to be impressive. All places are a little bit different from each other; it's why I like traveling so much. No matter where I go, every new country is unique.

[protectandselfserve]

Hm... well, my country back home is pretty big, honestly. It's almost like fifty countries in one big package, actually, which... isn't always optimal.

[quickpersuader]

Fifty countries...?

[Whoa.]

Were they originally separate countries that were all conquered?

[odasaku]

I don't know if I would have anything interesting to talk about...

[ says the mafioso that doesn't like to kill but was also an ex-assassin ]

At this point I think I'd take about anything...

What was it like where you lived?

[odasaku]

Yokohama...is a lively city. There's a lot of violence and strangeness underneath it, but most people can still go about their lives normally, unknowing of it.

[ he nods ]

It's beautiful. It has tall buildings and a beautiful bay where lots of ships come in.

[quickpersuader]

So it's a port city?

[Kino offers a smile in return.]

Tell me more about it.

[odasaku]

It is. The port is mostly controlled by the mafia, though. Hence the name of the organization-- Port Mafia.

[ he shrugs, not finding anything about it too negative. ]

Though I said that it has many tall buildings, I have to say that my favorite places are those that aren't that easy to see. The small stores and restaurants...I like those more.

[quickpersuader]

Those are usually the places I like most when I go to a new country. But... if I want to find them, that means finding someone who knows where to direct me.

[And not everyone wants to lead the tourist to such places.]
