Second Week

Seven days have passed. Quite peaceful days, almost too peaceful. The town has welcomed you, excited to see tourists for the first time in many, many, many years. Some may have liked the peace, others may have been annoyed by it, but it was undeniable Cartesio seemed like such a nice and safe place it was hard to believe you had been told to kill each other.

But the threat is still up in the air. What's more: how much patience does the Sergeant have left?

Every time you take a look into the Lodge, you see the Sergeant. Lately he's looking more and more annoyed. Even though you can't see his face, you can feel he's getting frustrated. How long will it be before he lashes out and does something about these peaceful days?

Nobody in the town could suspect the harrowing times that'd befall Cartesio.

When you wake up on Sunday, you'll find new maps in the map rack and brochures on the table, showing places you hadn't noticed in the town before. Enjoy!

[Outside the Motel - Morning]

[Last night, Kino had noticed something different about the room but, baffled by the change, the traveler simply decided to go to sleep and deal with it in the morning.

Now it is morning. And, amazingly, the problem has not disappeared.

Others may find Kino crouched outside the motel with a chicken clucking softly as it patters about, hunting for food on the ground. Kino seems... perplexed.]

Why a chicken?

[Later, Kino can be found loading up on ammunition. Boxes and boxes are piled onto the counter, and the cordial tone from the shopkeeper is completely ignored.

So. That's a thing.]

Morning

[Franciscus actually looks pretty happy to see the chicken.] I'm guessing this is one of the animals from your world? I'm assuming it's not as aggressive a species as the Torchi line is.

No. These are usually raised for food or eggs.

[Kino continues to stare at it. The chicken, for its part, seems to sense no danger at all as it goes about continuing to chicken.]

[...] Do you know which kind this is?

Ho~e? [...] Is that chicken... yours, Kino-san? [?????]

Maybe.

[Kino sounds... uncertain.]

I found it in my room last night when we got back.

[clearities]

Hoeeee... that really is weird. Do you like chickens?

[As interested as Millium would probably be in having a chicken friend, there is actual tactical reason for her to bother Kino here.]

Kino?

[She pipes up from beside Kino, a safe distance away to get their attention. If she's acknowledged, she'll offer a little wave.]

Hi. When you're done checking out, do you think you could help me?

[quickpersuader]

[Wow, she's so... quiet.]

Mm. Hold on a second.

[Once the payment is accepted, Kino accepts the bag of purchases and walks over to Millium.]

What do you need help with?

[She's running on low battery. She'll be better once she actually gets a decent night's sleep, probably.]

I don't really know anything about guns, but I'm thinking I kinda want one. N' I know you're really really good with 'em, so I was wondering if you could maybe help me out?

[pecker]

[... never hurts to have more birds around. Chickens aren't the most useful though, despite her namesake. She just looks at it thoughtfully, leaning an index finger against her cheek.]

Maybe they sent him to the wrong person. Hawks-san's profile says he likes chicken....

[Kino is still, frankly, baffled.]

The only time I ever had a chicken was--

[I mean, that was a bold reaction. Is this some kind of Chicken Mystery??]

...well, hens are a bit more useful as pets than food, looking at it long term.

[He's only buying a few boxes. All of the same type. And he keeps glancing at the door, debating if it's worth buying them at all.]

We aren't very welcome here anymore, so I thought I'd stock up now.

[Just in case the mood worsens and they're barred from purchasing anything. What caliber has he got, there?]

[She's giving the chicken a curious glance, a thoughtful frown on her face.]

[ He'll walk by with his own regain under arm, and then does a double take at the chicken. ]

The hell? Is that a chicobo?

[ It looks like a less...round one? ]

I can't believe the chicken might have outlived Nine
