WEEK 2: April 8th - April 12th

Second Week

Seven days have passed. Quite peaceful days, almost too peaceful. The town has welcomed you, excited to see tourists for the first time in many, many, many years. Some may have liked the peace, others may have been annoyed by it, but it was undeniable Cartesio seemed like such a nice and safe place it was hard to believe you had been told to kill each other.

But the threat is still up in the air. What's more: how much patience does the Sergeant have left?

Every time you take a look into the Lodge, you see the Sergeant. Lately he's looking more and more annoyed. Even though you can't see his face, you can feel he's getting frustrated. How long will it be before he lashes out and does something about these peaceful days?

Nobody in the town could suspect the harrowing times that'd befall Cartesio.

When you wake up on Sunday, you'll find new maps in the map rack and brochures on the table, showing places you hadn't noticed in the town before. Enjoy!

[Osomatsu doesn't usually make a habit of reading newspapers. but ever since he saw Sakura collecting the ones from Cartesio, he likes to read. he's learned that the daily newspapers here have weird bits of information in them, and he always hopes to find out more about where he is from the articles.

instead of something useful, he sees the section speaking about the cinema. it is placing all the blame on the people who were there that night. now, Osomatsu's not stupid... well, he is, but he's at least put some things together, like that the Sergeant must have been behind this. he wanted them to do tasks for him, right? but Osomatsu had no idea those tasks would be, like, puzzles...

and he was rewarded for his efforts, even! he got beer, when he didn't do much besides turn on a light switch.

if you pass by his room in the morning, you'll see him sitting cross-legged on the bed, with the newspaper placed next to the six-pack of beer. he's looking from one to the other, deep in thought.

in the evening, Osomatsu stops at the tavern. the moment he walks in, he notices a few townspeople look his way, and they seem cold. no one says anything to him, at least, they just don't look all that friendly. so he takes a seat at one of the tables, browsing through a menu]

[clearities]

Osomatsu-san! Good evening. [ She's usually not at the tavern, but Sakura is also very much an evening person, too. ] Do you mind if I sit with you? [ Because the townspeople are kind of... hm. ]

[relieable]

[Osomatsu looks up from the menu and sees the girl there. what is Sakura doing in the tavern? this is no place for children! but he's seated at a table, and not the bar, so that's fine, right?]

Sakura-chan! Of course not! [she can either sit next to him, or across from him, because he's at a four-top. either way, he pats the table] You doin' okay?

[clearities]

[ She'll sit across from him, since it makes it easier for her to face him. ] I'm okay. I'll be okay. What about you?

[relieable]

[he shrugs]

No one's really happy to see me, but that isn't all that different from home, so I'm okay.

[clearities]

I'm happy to see you, though-- even if the others... aren't.

[ Sakura is trying her best. ]

[relieable]

[oh. how sweet! Osomatsu beams at her. she's a good girl]

Well, you're all that matters anyway! [a soft chuckle] Sorry about... that. You got dragged into that mess. It was really unorganized.

[doublelammy]

[Millium sure is getting a lot of chatting in for being completely dead to the world this morning.

She originally passes by the room without a second thought, but stops in her tracks a few steps past the door and rewinds her steps so she can peer in.]

Mornin', Oso.

What'cha lookin' at?

[She doesn't sound as energetic as usual, but no amount of sleepiness will turn this child into someone who minds her own business.]

[relieable]

[he looks up at her and smiles, but it doesn't reach his eyes. he's not sleepy, but he is feeling kind of weird about the whole cinema debacle]

Just the newspaper. [and he taps the beer cans] Ol' Sarge left me a present, too, I guess.

[doublelammy]

Oh. Yeah, he left me one, too. Mine doesn't even work, though, so I think you got the better present.

[Hmm...]

What's the newspaper say? I stopped reading once the shark alert was gone.

[relieable]

[he wonders what Millium got. he'll ask her about it later. for now, he nods his head, indicating that she can come into his room, if she wants. he sets the beer aside, making room on the bed]

Let's see... It talks about what happened at the cinema, and that the "tourists" [he makes quotes with his fingers] are responsible for it. Which, I mean, I guess we are, partly.

[he didn't break the doors, and he didn't get popcorn everywhere, and he didn't explode the sign... but he was there]

[doublelammy]

[Millium takes that invitation, coming in and sitting cross-legged on the bed beside him.]

Oh.

[Hey, now. She only did one of those things, herself, and it wasn't any worse than any other movie patron! ...She also ripped the security system off the wall, but who's counting?]

So I'm guessin' the town's gonna be real mad at us, then. [Sigh.] Makes sense. I guess I would be, too, if a buncha people showed up in my town n' started wrecking stuff.

[relieable]

[when she puts it like that, it makes his shoulders slump]

Yeah, you're right. And, I guess, I don't mind if people look at me like I'm garbage, 'cause I am. But what about Sakura-chan? And those other people who weren't there? They don't deserve t'be treated like they're criminals.

[robitussin]

[She happens to notice his door open when she passes by, and though she notices the beer, she doesn't comment on it. Instead:]

Something bothering you?

[relieable]

Oh, hey. [his head snaps up when he hears her voice, and he grins weakly at her]

Guess I was just a little bummed by the newspaper. I think we all got in big trouble.

[robitussin]

...Yeah. Maybe next time we should wear masks or something. Or impersonate one of the townspeople.

[A shrug.]

[relieable]

I dunno if wearing masks would help. Maybe there was just too many of us, all doing different things. [like breaking glass? and using bomb powers?]

[robitussin]

We could grab some police uniforms and use those so everyone thought it was them instead.

[Natalie, no.]

[relieable]

[Natalie]

Wow, you're pretty sneaky!

[goturshit]

[ kinzie pokes her head in ]

Little early to be drinking, don't you think?

[ her tone is joking, at least ]

[relieable]

[it's definitely too early! he laughs and leans back on his arms]

I wasn't drinking! I was just looking at 'em, for now. They're not cold, anyway.

[goturshit]

Oof, yeah, that's fair enough. Starting off your day with warm beer and a physical copy of the newspaper might, in fact, be rock bottom.

[relieable]

Right! [that makes him laugh a little harder. then he gestures to the newspaper] You read this shit, yet? It sounds like they're really upset over what happened at the movie theater.

[goturshit]

I mean hey, when they only have like five things in their town, damage to any one of them is a problem.

[ she walks over and looks at his copy over his shoulder, frowning. ]

Just out of a desire to not be mobbed to death when this shit continues, maybe we should figure out something to do for them? That whole... giving back to the community shtick.

[relieable]

[oh? he looks up at her]

You know, that might not be a bad idea. Maybe some way t'show 'em that we're only here 'cause of Sarge, an' that we don't wanna hurt them.
