Week 3: Trial

April 20th. It was now time for the trial.

When everyone arrives at the trial room, the tribunes are already filled with townspeople. Compared to last week, there's less morbid curiosity and more quiet outrage. Everyone's glaring at the visitors while they enter the courtroom.

The number of podiums draped in black has increased dramatically. Nine's, Mako's, Sandalphon's, and Bakugou's have joined Moloch's, raising the number to five. That's one sixth of the available podiums. How many more will be covered in black velvet before these two months end?

Once everyone is at the right podium, the Sergeant bangs his gavel. He doesn't seem to be in better mood than before.

"Today the victim is Katsuki Bakugou. Solve it."

Without even bothering to taunt or be as antagonistic as usual, he waves the gavel. Five small photos appear on the podiums.

            

"When it's time, you shall cast your vote. Write it on paper or put the photo inside the slot, I don't really care about how you do it. What matters is that you actually do it. Start your discussion."

The trial room went completely silent, all the visitors can feel the attentive stares of the townspeople gathered to watch. It's up to them now to find the culprit.

Let the trial begin.

[a pause, looking around the room]

If someone has to, I want it to be Cian. [mmm considering] Or the old lady, I guess. [she means Rose, who doesn't deserve this]

[ There's a nod towards Clarisse here and then a questioning look towards Millium. ]

I'd do it. Is that okay?

Yeah, it's fine by me. I can go my entire life without seein' her boobies, thanks.

[why! is she! LIKE THIS!]

I told Jughead what I thought was important. I just don't think the rest of you need a play-by-play of what's goin' on under her sheet-thing, and especially not you.

If you're interested in "justice" [real mockingly] or whatever twisted version you can get here, then you need to figure out it's not about what you think is important. You're not the one making the final decision, are you?

Get someone else to check over Olympia, with or without your help. Then I'll let Cian search me.

And I told you, too, I'm not after justice.

There's not gonna be any justice here. But one of you killed my friend, and I want to kill whoever did it.

I don't care who that winds up being.

[putting reasonable distance between herself and Olympia, but still looking real smug]

Oh, sure, but I don't know that anyone else is gonna want to hear any opinions from me, so I hope this isn't an offer for a private show.

I can check too, if we can't trust another suspect's word. [Please don't try to frame someone here, Clarisse.] But it's up to you, Miss Olympia.

That won't be necessary.

[Still in full view of everyone, Olympia reaches up to her chest with both hands, grabs the sheet with both hands, and just fucking tears it in half.

Surprise???

There is, incidentally, no sign of any injury or damage.]

No, I think she's done a pretty good job checking everyone over so far. But if you're really against it, maybe someone else can check you over with her.

She's been too quiet about the situation with Olympia's feet while we're trying to figure out the footprints. Either way, I'm not having her check me over at all, and definitely not with someone else's help.

That's your right. Personally? I'd rather we not have to strip anyone at all. [ Glancin' away. Bad memories, bad memories. He looks back. ] But I trust her judgment here.

Except, if you were listening instead o' preenin' over how someone said you were right, you'd know I told you guys plenty.

And then you conveniently turned a quiet ear to how the conversation kept going, didn't you?
