Sunday must have been exhausting for you, maybe even upsetting. A new town, new faces and a an ominous order from a man without a face... who wouldn't be a little frightened? Hopefully, all of that is forgotten when you climb out from under your blankets this fine Monday. Rise and shine! A new morning is a new start!
If you make your way to the lounge, you will find a few copies of the local newspaper provided for your perusal. Once you go outdoors, you'll find the weather forecast 100% accurate. It's pretty impressive.
It seems that quiet mornings like this are going to be your everyday life now. Maybe you should see this whole stay as a vacation? Go out and explore the town, meet your fellow motel guests and meet the townspeople. They're sure to welcome you with a smile!
This week's special in the diner is lemon pie made with love (and a top-secret recipe)

NPCs please!
Some time is spent during that waking up process. After that is a quick and simple breakfast from the diner before heading over to the junkyard. Those early enough in the morning may catch the occasional sound of metal scraping against metal as Kino scours the place for anything useful. Not that it's easy to find the traveler - Kino is rather small, after all. But every so often Kino does resurface, holding battered sheets of metal up with a discerning look.]
[Once it's open, it's time to head to the hunting goods store. Kino will eventually be found at the shooting range, trying out a semi-automatic pistol as well as a revolver. The bullet holes left behind are precise; one dead center, and after that, carefully formed circles around it, all rapidly shot.
That marksmanship mention in the guestbook wasn't just for show, it seems.]
[After the meeting, and therefore in the afternoon, Kino can be found walking towards the motel with a bag of groceries and supplies. The revolver is rather obviously holstered on the right hip. Behind, however...
At any rate, Kino's looking pretty pleased. If you want a chance to chat up the traveler about anything in particular, now might be a good time for it.]
[NPC THREAD]
[Mid-afternoon, Kino goes out to seek the townspeople. It was really only a matter of time; Kino is a traveler, and getting to know the country one has traveled to is the entire point of traveling in the first place, even if this was... involuntary.
Kino will seek out anyone who doesn't seem too busy, especially if they seem like they'd be open to talking to a stranger.]
Excuse me. I'm one of the tourists, and I couldn't help but have a few questions about this beautiful town of yours.
Shoot.
Your skill is impressive.
no subject
[Kino doesn't seem to mind the audience, at least.]
Were you thinking of testing your skills too, Ms. Olympia?
no subject
[That doesn't technically answer the question, but Olympia thinks it does.]
no subject
[We all know what the Sergeant wants, it's not like it's a big secret people are probably going to need to defend themselves.]
no subject
[There, her skill. Unless Kino was hoping for acting.]

Gonna put that survival knowledge to good use?
[Kino doesn't seem like the 'power crazed boyscout' type but at this point it's probably good to double check that.]
no subject
If I die, I can't travel anymore, so I'd like to avoid that if possible.
[Kino is a traveler with simple wants.]
Are you investigating us, then?
no subject
[As he says that, he was reaching into his pocket for his notebook, and Kino's words stop him.]
Great guess. What clued you in?
no subject
[It's an important distinction.]
The guestbook, mostly.

I see I'm not the only one whose done their homework.
[It's not completely judgemental.]
Well, I won't let a book I haven't written myself introduce me. Name's Jughead. Jughead Jones. The third.
[Ignore the Forsythe Pendleton part.]

Aren't you a dear? Why, of course. Only got about thirty minutes before I've gotta get back to the diner, but I can answer some questions, in the meantime.
Re: NPC
[Kino places one hand over the chest in a slight acknowledging bow.]
Actually... could you tell me a little about the history of your town? I came here abruptly, so I didn't have time to study it on my own.
no subject
[ She thinks for a moment, tapping her chin. ]
Just about everyone I can think of here's homegrown, born in Cartesio, live in Cartesio. We're a pretty insulated town, always have been. No neighbors, anyway. Been that way since the town was founded, way back in 1919.
no subject
Is the town mostly self-sufficient, then? [No trade, or...]
The stores are just so well-stocked, I wasn't sure if it was all locally made or not.

junkyard
Hey, this is dangerous stuff, kid. You should really be wearing gloves if you feel the need to dig in garbage.
no subject
Oh.
Oh!!
Wordlessly, Kino raises both hands. They're currently covered nicely with black gloves. And then:]
You're Hawks, aren't you?
[Kino can't help but smile, and it might be kind of obvious the youth's gaze is directed towards those wings.]
no subject
He straightens into a standing position, still up above on the heap. It's actually more normal for him to be recognized on sight and called by name, so it's with an easygoing tone that he answers.]
Yep, that's me. The guidebook said you're Kino? What're you doing way out here?
no subject
I noticed most of the junkyard is different kinds of metals. I was hoping I could find something useful, but I haven't had any luck so far.
[Just gonna keep calling up to him from all the way down here. This is fine.]
no subject
I can see a lot of stuff in here that could become useful if someone knows how to clean it up, but what’s ‘useful’ is in the eye of the beholder for a lot of this. You lookin’ for anything specific?

around the motel
Hey, Kino-kun!
[ She assumes that's '-kun'...? Now that it's out of her mouth, she suddenly isn't sure anymore, huh.. ]
no subject
Oh... Miss Cian. Or Miss Reikado?
[Not... entirely sure which to go with here, but let's try to be polite.]
no subject
The former is fine!
[ They're in the same situation and also in a bizarre world where none of the social rules Cian knows make any sense, so... why not be familiar.
Cian speeds over to Kino so they can fall in step as they continue towards the motel. ]
Are you settling in yet?
no subject
[All cultures have their own preferences; Kino just tries to abide by them when possible.]
And... sort of. But I'm not sure that's a good thing.
What about you?
