WEEK 2: April 8th - April 12th

Second Week

Seven days have passed. Quite peaceful days, almost too peaceful. The town has welcomed you, excited to see tourists for the first time in many, many, many years. Some may have liked the peace, others may have been annoyed by it, but it was undeniable Cartesio seemed like such a nice and safe place it was hard to believe you had been told to kill each other.

But the threat is still up in the air. What's more: how much patience does the Sergeant have left?

Every time you take a look into the Lodge, you see the Sergeant. Lately he's looking more and more annoyed. Even though you can't see his face, you can feel he's getting frustrated. How long will it be before he lashes out and does something about these peaceful days?

Nobody in the town could suspect the harrowing times that'd befall Cartesio.

When you wake up on Sunday, you'll find new maps in the map rack and brochures on the table, showing places you hadn't noticed in the town before. Enjoy!

[Kino peers at the screen with a mild mix of annoyance and confusion, pulling up the bowl for a quick sniff. Everything normal? Well, probably doesn't matter, Kino has other things to attend to.

Other things like calmly standing up and turning to look at the projector room window. The revolver is still holstered to the side, and the pistol to the back, grip facing upwards.]

[cartesio]

[It's so buttery, this popcorn. Going to the cinema in Cartesio is bound to fill your arteries with three pounds of cholesterol.

The projector room window above you is wide open, nothing's blocking it. It doesn't seem like there's anyone up there -- or at least nobody's approaching the window. Everything is silent, except for the noise of the static]

[burgerprince]

[Jughead's following your look, Kino. He's at least familiar with the setup of a movie theatre. He gives a quick look to the gun.]

Don't shoot the projector.

[quickpersuader]

I wasn't planning on it.

[Kino is just perpetually armed is all. Cautiously, Kino exits the aisle to head up to the projector room, always keeping the right hand free - just in case.]

[burgerprince]

Just making sure.

[He follows Kino because that's not a half bad idea.]

[cartesio]

[The carpet muffles the steps, soon Kino reaches the door to the projection room. Testing the door will show it's unlocked. If she listens, there seems to be no noises coming from inside.

Enter?]

[quickpersuader]

[Quietly, to Jughead:]

Keep back.

[And once he gives Kino some space, that revolver is unholstered, currently pointed down. Finger over, but not on the trigger.

In we go!]

[Your concern for safety and suspicious people being around is rather appropriate, Kino. This time it seems to be superfluous, because when you enter the rather cramped projection room, you find there's nobody inside.

It's clear as soon as you enter that you're expected to do something here, though. For example, the projection machine? It's stuck. The parts that hold the film reel have reels, but they keep advancing a bit, then going back. Malfunctioning projector!

The room is covered with discarded and empty film reels, leading towards a rack attached to the wall. There are only two left there, intact.

Finally, on the other side of the room, there's a small table, with a single drawer.

No sign from the Sergeant yet, or of whatever he expects you to do, though]

I've got this.

[Jughead moves over to the projection machine almost instinctively, and tries to fix it up. All that time working the drive-in, don't fail him now!]

[cartesio]

[Thank goodness you're here, Jughead! Someone with a delicate touch that won't shatter this machine in one fell swoop!

Peeking into the projection machine reveals there's something metallic between the film reels. Careful when taking it out, you don't want to mangle your fingers]

[clearities]

[ While Sakura is in the back of the all of these taller older people, she does manage to see what Jughead is doing and just hoeeeee in awe. It's not helping, but it's clear that she's going to be really impressed if he does manage to fix the poor projection machine. ]

[doublelammy]

Dibs on the table thingy!

[And she beelines right over there, immediately moving to open up that drawer with her buttery hands.

For Aidios' sake, someone with clean hands please stop this child.]

[cartesio]

[Your buttery hands won't stop you from opening the drawer! And there's something inside! It's...

What's this thing...?

Whatever it is, it's very thin, almost paper-thin, and made of resistant steel. At least it's light]

[quickpersuader]

[With a nod to Jughead, Kino goes to investigate the table drawer, persuader still in hand.]

[cartesio]

[Millium found something!]

[linearcrash]

[ He'll check out the rack. Is there anything about the reels here? Any words or anything? ]

[cartesio]

[The reels are unmarked. No name, no marks...perfectly generic reels, yet they were left here on the rack instead of thrown around. How curious]

[pursuitofdeath]

[Huh. Alright. So what’s on this rack attached to the wall?]

[cartesio]

[These unmarked reels, Mr. Detective!]

[doublelammy]

[Millium's here, too, trotting up alongside Nine while munching on popcorn the whole way. With her mouth open, like a goddamn lady. There is going to be so much for the poor staff to clean in here later...]

[cartesio]

[Try not to fill the projection room with popcorn, Millium!]

[ Millium pls...

To be fair, Bakugou would be doing the same thing if he weren't so irritated about this. So. ]

[ S'up. He calls being Scooby for this group pesky kids investigating. Hi Kino. Hi Jughead.]

[From the safe distance slightly behind Kino. Sup dude.]

[just kinda looming awkwardly in the back of the group with her weapon at the ready because like, no she has no idea what this is or what's going on, but do you think she's gonna interact with people at large?? you think she's gonna do anything but uncomfortably stalk behind them???? nah]
